The Curragh
True Love has shone brightly in 2025, finishing runner-up in a Listed sprint at the Curragh (May 5) and a Navan maiden (May 17) before landing the Group 2 Queen Mary Stakes at Royal Ascot (June 18) under Ryan Moore. She confirmed her Group 1 calibre when finishing second in the Keeneland Phoenix Stakes (August 9, Curragh). Her primary target for the year, the Moyglare Stud Stakes (G1) on Irish Champions Festival. With proven form at the top level and progressive momentum, she looks set to be a leading contender.
Composing, a 2023 bay filly by Wootton Bassett out of Epona Plays, has rapidly established herself as one of Ballydoyle’s most exciting two-year-olds. After breaking her maiden at the Curragh in June, she quickly climbed the ranks with victories in the Silver Flash Stakes (G3) at Leopardstown and the Alpha Centauri Debutante Stakes (G2) at the Curragh. Those performances have set her up perfectly for the Moyglare Stud Stakes (G1) on Irish Champions Festival, where she will bid to crown her juvenile campaign with a first Group 1 triumph. Aidan O’Brien is confident in her laid-back temperament and progressive profile, noting: “We thought we’d have to make it and we were delighted that Ger’s filly went on. If everything is right, she’ll come back here for the Moyglare. She’s so laid-back and is the very same at home.” All roads now lead to the Curragh, with Composing firmly on course to take her place in one of Europe’s most prestigious juvenile contests.
A 2023 bay filly by Starman out of Johara, trained by Karl Burke, has quickly become a flagbearer for her sire as his first Group 1 winner. She made a striking debut at Carlisle on May 19 before announcing herself with a decisive victory in the Group 3 Albany Stakes at Royal Ascot (June 20). Her progression continued with Group-race successes in the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes (G2, Newmarket, July 11) and the Lowther Stakes (G2, York, August 21). Most recently, she confirmed her status among Europe’s elite juveniles when defeating Gstaad to win the Prix Morny (G1, Deauville, August 24), a race widely hailed as the best two-year-old contest of the season so far. Now unbeaten and proven at the highest level, Venetian Sun heads to the Moyglare Stud Stakes (G1, 7f) at the Curragh on Irish Champions Festival. The race will see her step up in trip for the first time, with trainer Karl Burke stating: “I think she’ll go up to seven furlongs next for the Moyglare in three weeks’ time, that will be her last run of the season.” Her blend of speed, class, and proven Group 1 ability makes Venetian Sun one of the most exciting contenders of the Moyglare, where she will bid to end a flawless season in perfect style.
Beautify, a 2023 bay filly by Wootton Bassett out of Words (by Dansili), is trained by Aidan O’Brien for the Coolmore partners. After finishing third on debut at the Curragh, she showed significant improvement to take the Airlie Stud Stakes (G2) at the Curragh on June 28, gamely fending off the previously unbeaten Lady Iman by two lengths in a confident front-running display under Ryan Moore. Now highly regarded among her generation, Beautify holds an entry in the prestigious Moyglare Stud Stakes (G1) on Irish Champions Festival. With her powerful display at Group 2 level, proven adaptability, and classic filly pedigree, she stands out as a serious contender over seven furlongs among Ireland’s top juvenile fillies.
